Instructions:
Click on the Start menu (the Windows button) and navigate to Run. When the Run dialog box opens, type 'cmd' (without quotes and as is, follow this rule throughout the article) and click on the OK button.
This will prompt open the black Command Prompt window. Type 'shutdown -a' and hit Enter on the keyboard. This will stop your computer from shutting down abruptly and frequently due to crippling.
Now deactivate the McAfee Access Protection. To do so, locate the McAfee icon and open it. If the icon is there on your desktop, open it and go to VirusScan Console. If you are unable to find it on desktop, click on the Start menu and go to All Programs. Locate the McAfee program, open it and go to VirusScan Console. Right click on Access Protection and then click on Disable.
Connect to the internet if you are not already connected. Open your browser and go to McAfee's official website and download and run the Extra.zip file. When downloaded and prompted, save the file to a location in your computer where it is easily accessible from. When done, locate the file and unzip its contents. You will see a file by the name extra.dat. This file will be required in next steps.
Click on Start and browse to Run. When the Run window opens up, type 'services.msc' and click on the OK button. When another window opens up, browse to the Mcafee McShield icon. Right click on the file and click to select Stop or Disable (whatever option you see there).
Now copy the file named extra.dat (which is in the Extra.zip file) to C:Program FilesCommon FilesMcAfeeEngine. Make sure that you are copying file to the same exact location.
